Jim McCutcheon
B.S., B.Mus. in Music Performance (WSU), M.Mus. in Music
Education (WSU). Styles include classical, folk, fingerstyle, jazz,
and banjo. Jim is Artist-in-Residence at the University
of Dayton and Faculty Associate at Wright
State University. He is known to children as "The Guitar Man" and specializes in

John Filbrun
A Guitar
Institute of Technology graduate, with additional guitar study at Wright State
University, John has taught at McCutcheon Studios
since 1990, and is an active performer in the area rock scene. He is one of the most organized and thorough teachers we have ever seen in this

John has performed professionally in
blues bands for many years, and has often been a featured performer at
GuitarFest. He studied music at Miami University, and has taught at McCutcheon Music for over ten years. Styles:
rock, blues, fingerstyle, jazz.

James Murrell
James has completed all music requirements for a
degree in jazz guitar from Central State University, where he studied with Jim
Smith. He recently earned a Specialist Certificate in Advanced Guitar from the
Berklee College of Music. He has released several CDs of original tunes, and is one of our busiest
teachers. James performs often in the Dayton area, accompanying singers and in combos.

Warren Kearney,

Warren has worked at McCutcheon's for several
years, and specializes in teaching guitar to children, as well as other
instruments including banjo, ukulele, digeridoo and Irish instruments including the

Dan has been playing traditional music for nearly 50 years and is a
nationally recognized master old-time fiddler and banjoist. He teaches those

Jones is an independent recording & performing artist who has released three
CDs. He is a worship leader at a local church and an adjunct professor of Guitar
at Cedarville University. He teaches guitar, piano and bass. Styles: Rock,

Rick Shutte,

Rick has worked in the music industry for several years,
toured the U.S. extensively
as an opening and headlining act with his band "Rune". Rick can educate
students who aspire to do the same in what it takes to get there and
what to expect. He has studied
guitar at Sinclair Community College, and is fluent with
music technology. He is happy
to teach computer music, recording and equipment set-up, guitar amp
simulation software, and music notation programs. He teaches
contemporary "Rock/Metal" styles and techniques to students age 11 and
older. |

Brooks has several years experience teaching and performing. He
performed for several years with the guitar duo "Acoustica" and enjoys
teaching a variety of styles. He is currently working on a new CD

Kyleen Downes,

Kyleen performs in two bands, "Smilin' Gray" and "The Undercovered". She

Charles holds a Bachelor of .Music degree in Piano
Performance. Charles is an active composer and teacher, and has taught piano at
the University of Dayton. He has given spirited lessons at McCutcheon
Music for many years, and regularly holds recitals for his students. |

Phyllis Morrow
With a great deal of teaching experience and a degree in piano
pedagogy, Phyllis is the newest member of our teaching staff. She has
extensive experience with adults and senior citizens.
Phyllis is professionally
certified nationally through MTNA in piano.

Valerie Bobosh
Valerie specializes in teaching piano in the Suzuki method to
young students. She has
a degree in Music Education from SUNY Potsdam. Further
professional development
includes studies at the Kodaly Institute at Silver Lake College, Orff
Schulwerk music education, Kindermusik certification, and a masters degree
in music education from the University of Dayton.

Hal North
Hal works with beginners
thru advanced players emphasizing solid musical fundamentals as well as
arranging, theory and composition. He has performed over 50 years, and performs at several area restaurants,
churches as well as other private engagements.

Roger Cavender
Roger has performed in the Dayton
area for decades, and has taught music in public schools. His specialties include jazz
piano and saxophone.

Teresa Hermiz
Theresa specializes in
teaching young children as soon as they can read. She likes
incorporating the computer into her pedagogy. She has accompanied choirs
all her life, including the Wilmington College Choir. Theresa holds
lecture recitals for all her students.

Jan Davis
Jan holds a B.M. in Piano Performance/Piano Pedagogy from WSU where she
taught in the CMD. Jan enjoys teaching children, teens, adults, and
seniors with a unique playing-based approach that has students playing
great-sounding blues, classical, contemporary, gospel, and accompaniments from
their very first lessons. She is a licensed Simply Music teacher and a
Licensed Kindermusik teacher.

voice utilizing both traditional and popular teaching methods to instruct
students of all ages and levels, from beginner through professional.
He
holds a B.Mus in
Vocal Performance from WSU and studied jazz piano at the University of North
Texas. He has been performing and teaching across the United States and is
currently Director of Music Ministries at St. Andrew United Methodist Church. |

Dr. Frank Cox, cello
Dr. Franklin Cox received B.Mus. degrees in cello
and composition from Indiana University, as well as composition degrees from
Columbia University (M.A.), and the University of California – San Diego (Ph.D.)
Dr. Cox has received numerous fellowships, prizes, and commissions from leading
institutions and festivals of new music, including fellowships from the Schloss
Solitude and the Sacher Stiftung, the Kranichsteiner Prize for both composition
and cello performance from the Darmstadt Festival. He has taught at Wright State
University since 2007.

Linda Katz, DMA, cello
Linda has been teaching cello in the Dayton area for over thirty years. She is
principal emeritus of the Dayton Philharmonic and performs with the orchestra,
the string quintet, and is a musician with the SPARK educational program through
the Philharmonic. She has taught cello at Wright State, University of Dayton and
Stivers School for the Arts.She has attended numerous master classes and teacher
training programs in recent years. |

Emeritus of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Juilliard and Eastman graduate, Marna comes to us with a wealth
of teaching and performing experience. She has taught for Miami U. and CCM, and performed a
variety of orchestral and chamber music.

Mark Reis, viola Mark performs with the Dayton
Philharmonic Orchestra, and was the first registered Suzuki viola instructor in
Ohio. He holds a Masters degree in Music from Miami University, where he
received numerous awards in music. Mark has been an active
teacher in southwest Ohio for over twenty years.

Jim Braid, violin.
Jim holds a B.Mus. Performance degree from
Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory and received that school's Distinguished
Alumni Award in 1985. He performs with the Cincinnati
Symphony Orchestra and is concertmaster for the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and
the Lakeside Summer Symphony. He teaches classical and popular violin and viola.

Colleen holds a B. Mus. in viola performance and a
B.M.Ed from Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory and is assistant principal
violist with the Dayton Philharmonic
Orchestra. She also teaches at the Prelude
Strings summer music camp and Stivers Music Magnet in Dayton.

Yoshiko Kunimitsu, violin
Yoshiko received a Bachelor of Music degree from the New England
Conservatory of Music and a Master of Music Degree from CCM, as well as additional
training at the Mozarteum Academy in Salzburg, Austria. She plays section violin
with the Dayton Philharmonic. When
not playing the violin, you can find her traveling abroad,
reading non-fiction, and doing yoga.

John holds a degree from Peabody Conservatory, and performs and teaches extensively
in southwest Ohio. He teaches several styles of bass playing, including
orchestral and electric instruments, and is one
of our busiest teachers and performers in the region.

John is an active musician in the Dayton
area, and performs with the Dayton Philharmonic orchestra. He also teaches on the faculty at the University of Dayton Music
Department.

Haley has worked at McCutcheon Music for many

Ann
received her B.Mus in flute performance at BGSU in 1986, and has performed
for the Miami Valley Symphony, the Opera Funatics and the Sinclair Community

Norlan Bewley, low brass
Norlan is one of the most sought-after low brass teachers in the area. He is a
clinician for the Bach, Holton, and Martin brands of the Conn-Selmer
Corporation, and is represented by Joanne Rile Artists Management. As much in
demand for his writing as he is for his playing, Norlan composes and arranges
virtually all of the music he performs. He was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize
for music composition in 2005.

Rich has taught at McCutcheon Music since 2004. He also teaches at Earlham
College and the Affetti Music Festival in Anchorage, AK, where he is
Artistic Director. He is a member of the Dayton Philharmonic and has
performed with the Cincinnati Symphony and orchestras in Boston, New York,
Virginia, Colorado, Italy, and more. Other credits include founding the
Trombones of Dayton and the Earlham College Brass Trio, writing "A Modern
Guide for Trombonists and Other Musicians," and Ohio Teacher Certification. |

Randy is a professional drummer with a broad performance, drum

performing and coaching, and enjoys preparing his students for competition. |
